Experienced Native French Teacher/Translator Resume #19039912

OBJECTIVE I have acquired extensive experience in the teaching of the French language and literature during my 2 years as a French teacher in France and my 8 years as an Instructor of French at the University of Kansas (1993-present). KU's varied and comprehensive undergraduate progam has allowed me to work with and adapt several different approaches to language pedagogy including communicative and multi media proficiency-oriented methods. Having designed and taught courses in the US and in France, I have become familiar with a range of techniques for effective classroom and language laboratory instruction of phonetics, grammar, conversation and composition. On several occasions while at the University of Kansas, I was responsible for the supervision of teaching assistants. I also organized activities and conducted weekly discussion sessions on French culture during KU's French Table. My broad-based academic background has prepared me to teach all levels of French language and civilization. I would also be most eager to apply my knowledge and interests to the teaching of interdisciplinary topics such as language and cinema, short stories and society, literature and translation, and scapegoatism and literature. I am very interested and have had extensive training and experience in the area of translation, from standard translating to Language for Special Purposes (LSP) such as computer science or medical professions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION I received my MA in 1995, then I took 30 hours of PhD courses. After taking my comprehensive PhD written examinations (18 hours), I decided to stop working on my dissertation (at least temporarily), so I could go back to the essential, i.e. the language.

I am a native speaker of French with near-native English speaking ability. The son of two language and linguistics teachers, I was born and raised in France in an academic environment. I have always maintained excellent rapport with my students, as my impeccable evaluations show. In the latter, students have recurringly written that they were looking forward to class everyday. The accomplishment of which I am the most proud is having turned F students into A or B students throughout my career.

While I cherish teaching I am also open to any kind of job offer as long as it promotes French language, culture and literature. Thank you for reading my résumé.
